Sales Tax

Hi,

I manage a Bar account and I'm new to Toast. We went live the day before yesterday and received our first deposit from sales today. I noticed that Toast did not send the sales tax collected. Does anyone know if they file and pay sales tax on businesses behalf?

No they do not, your deposit includes all credit card payments (minus fees) which includes any tax charged to customers, the tax summary is just a report on the total taxes that were charged. Are you expecting the deposit to be the total card payments plus the calculated taxes or are you seeing another discrepancy somewhere?

Thanks, yes, your right. I kept digging and I was able to see that taxes were included in the credit card payments. I also reached out to customer service, and they explained how it works.
