different orders for the same table group together onKDS system

different orders for the same table need to be grouped together on the KDS system so the orders come up at the same time. Sometimes there are several orders in between due to the way the orders need to be entered. Does anyone know how to get the orders to come together?

That's not the problem. When more than one group is sitting at the same table the different tickets are sent to the KDS when the orders are entered. The time between the different orders allows for other order tickets to be sent between the first groups orders so they're not completed at the same time. When we are real busy the first group will be finished with their food before the second group gets their food.

Maybe I'm not following you, but seems like are splitting the order onto separate checks beforehand and then sending? If you do that they are going to be on different tickets, and depending on how fast you send them there is a chance another ticket could end up in between, they can't be regrouped after. Only way to avoid this is to send it altogether and split check afterward.

@MermaidsIG Sounds like your servers should enter the orders by seat number, Send the order, then split by seat. This will allow splititng the check easily while still sending one order to the kitchen

We don't have wait staff, we are a fast casual restaurant where customers order at the counter and their food is delivered when it's ready. When two of more groups are sitting at the same table and are ordering and paying separately the orders go to the kitchen when they pay. While the second group is ordering other orders are posting on the KDS in between the existing orders. I am trying to find out if there is a way for the first order to be delayed until the second group finishes their order so they can be displayed on the KDS together (that way they everyone at the gets their food at the same time).

Absolutely, so change the UI option send. Check to kitchen when paid to No

Then when guest one is going to pay hit hold first

Now you have two options . Add to guest ones check and split it off for payments once you hit send or

make a new check and fire at same time

I'm having a problem with orders being split and coming in at different times for the same table. For example, if table 1 orders a sandwich, a coffee and a second sandwich...the oder comes in staggered. They food orders sent to the kitchen and the coffee to the coffee station. the issue is, the first sandwich comes in fine as table one. then, after a delay, the second sandwich comes in. meaning that we are done preparing the first sandwich is ready by the time the second one comes in. I'm trying to group together items on the orders so that they all go to the appropriate station at the same time.

Yes. Prep times are enabled and all set to the same time. Here is an example. The last two tickets on the screen are from the same table and the last order came in 3 minutes after the ticket before, even though they display the same ticket time.

no, the problem persists. they are enabled. the orders are being split for the same tables and are coming in delayed, even though once they populate on the kds they have the same time on the ticket. i'll send a pic of tickets. the second ticket came in 3 to 4 minutes after the one prior. you will see they are for the same table and placed at the same time

You said you have prep times set, but are you using the automated fire by prep time? https://central.toasttab.com/s/article/Item-Fire-by-Prep-Time The elapsed time will be the same since they are sent at the same time but fired separately. Do you have a screen that is in expo mode? When this happens you would be able to see if that is the case on the expo screen, since one item would be fired and one would be on hold. Do you notice any patterns when it happens, in your two pictures there is Italian Sandwich, could that item be the issue?

Hi. No, it isn’t automated. I went in and set times manually for each station. We don’t have an expo screen, just handhelds and the KDS’. There is no pattern which is what Is driving me nuts
