This isn't a Toast-related question, but I was just wondering if anyone has digital screens up in their restaurant with the menu on them. If so, I was wondering if you like the company you are using, how easy it is to update your menu and what the pricing looks like.

I’ve found the most cost effective way is buying cheap tvs like TCL or Hisense Roku 4k tvs (under $300). They have a built in media player that allows you to loop either jpgs or .mp4 movies . Just plug in a usb with your menu and you are done , no subscription and no expensive tv is needed . Let me know if you need any help if you go this route

No personal experience with them but toast acquired Delphi display systems a year or so ago. https://www.delphidisplay.com/solutions/digital-menu-boards/ seems like it integrates with your menu so I think it's as simple as updating your POS menu, article on setting it up https://central.toasttab.com/s/article/Create-a-Menu-for-the-Delphi-Digital-Menu-Board Their is also an integration with Raydiant and a few others under the digital signage section of integrations.

So, we ended up purchasing TVs with Roku. We created a Roku account (free) and added our menu image to the Roku stream. Then, we turned on the TVs, logged them into the internet, logged into the aforementioned Roku account and downloaded the photos. (We had a separate folder for our breakfast menu, lunch menu, drinks and we just uploaded each TV with one each of the menu images.) It worked really well. I've got them all set up and at the restaurant. We will actually hang them next week. If you are interested in more details (ie: which TVs we ordered or what the final outcome is) just let me know and I'll get you the info.

Just sent you a quick one I snapped as I had ONE of the 4 TV's set up on a bench in the restaurant. We don't install until next week.

We use our food vendor - Us Foods! Kind of negotiated our business with some digital menu build outs and we got it for FREE! We use a USB into a smart tv.

Well, that was clever, HotDogHut! Good idea. We ended up doing slides on a Roku-enabled TV and we just change the slides if we change the menu so it's also free. We don't need a USB because the photos/slides are in the Roku cloud for free and they download to our TVs. (Your system has US Foods doing the work...great idea! )

I currently use Visual Art, a company out of Sweden. They aren't "dynamic" - as in they don't speak to toast. But they have great software and use the chip on the tv (if compatible). Most never commercial TVs are. No usbs or chromeboxs, just the TV, internet, and thier software. Easy to update anywhere (how many stores do you have?) pricing can vary but no more than 15$ per screen per month.
