New Item Detail Page

The new item detail page is an improved experience designed to make managing your inventory easier and more intuitive. It introduces a full-page variant view, giving you clearer visibility into item variations and making it easier to navigate and manage your item library.

The variant page now displays all item variations in a full-page layout instead of the previous side panel, providing better visibility and a more streamlined way to review and update item details.

View the new item detail page by clicking on any item in your item library.

Barcodes on Receipts

Barcodes on receipts are now available to support faster and easier check lookups.

You can now look up a past check directly from the POS — even after payment has been captured — without navigating to Checks & Issue Refunds in Toast Web. By scanning a receipt barcode, staff can quickly pull up a previous check to streamline order lookups and support more flexible checkout workflows.

This helps speed up common in-store scenarios, including:

Faster returns, exchanges, and refunds
Deli or counter ordering where guests add items and pay once at checkout
Diner-style ordering at a table with payment at the register on the way out

Note: Barcodes are also available on SMS receipts.

Test Kitchen - Wholesale

Toast Wholesale is a new alpha experience being designed to simplify B2B, with a goal to replace spreadsheets and third-party tools with wholesale pricing, invoicing, and ACH payments — all in Toast Web.

I wish you'd go back to the system you previously had that updated the pricing when you updated receiving units. I have some items that are in per case and some that are in per unit, so I am continually changing prices back and forth. It was so much easier before you changed that.

I just tried using the new barcode feature to look up a receipt. It gave me an error. Is it only for purchases on a different day?

Thanks for reaching out! Could you provide a screenshot of the error by chance? The troubleshooting steps I have so far are as follows:

Confirm “Print barcode…” is enabled in Toast Web (Payments → Guest receipt setup)(make sure to save and publish)
Make sure the check was fully paid/closed (receipt printed).
Scan the barcode from the Payment Terminal’s Find/All Checks screen (not into any other input).
There could be Barcode formatting issues; the error code you received might provide more details.
Scanner config error

I will forward this feedback as well to try and get more information!

Hi Rob,

Thanks for the clarification. It did work once we scanned in the Find/All Checks screen. We will hold onto the check and ensure that it still works the same on Monday.

HI. I am very interest in the wholesale new product under development. Before I join the waitlist to participate, I hope I can get some questions answered. I am currently just using the invoice feature in Toast to deal with our wholesale customers. If I join the new wholesale product I assume that will replace the invoicing that I am currently using. If I continue to use the new product, will it have a cost associated with it once it is out of testing? Will I be paying a monthly fee for it? I don't want to get too involved in a new product without fully understanding how this will be treated in the future. If you can shed any light on this, I will appreciate it. Thank you, Mark

I find it concerning that the Go3 was released without full barcode scanning capabilities or Bluetooth scanner support. This represents a significant oversight from the Toast team. I hope a swift update addressing these issues can be implemented, as I may be forced to reconsider my Toast account due to this shortcoming. Such a fail on Toast.

I own a cigar lounge with a full bar, and all our cigar inventory uses barcodes. I spoke with support, and they informed me that the Toast Go3 doesn't have this feature, and they don't know when it will be implemented. The Toast Go2 does have this functionality. Why would you release a new model that is a step backward instead of offering improvements?

Yes, Toast Wholesale would become your new home for Invoicing for wholesale purposes. There is no released pricing yet, but early access customers will get a discount in exchange for giving us feedback while we're still building the new experience. Signing up for the waitlist doesn't obligate you to adding the product down the road, but does ensure you'll get updates once the alpha becomes available to try!
