I was under the impression that Toast would remove inventory as we are fulfilling orders, but I cant find a way to to use this function. Is this true, and if so where is the function? From what I read about xtraCHEF I am under the impression I need to manually update inventory for about $200 a month.

Sorry for the delay in responding, I got hung up at my other business. No, I am not currently using xtrachef. Is that the only app needed to keep track of inventory?

Depends on what you need but yeah that is for inventory, managing invoices, food costs etc. I don't personally use it so I don't know a ton about it, maybe someone else can comment on that. As far as the toast pos the only sort of inventory available is to set a quantity of stock on menu items which depletes as sold.

We use Toast without xtraCHEF & it does track inventory (most of the time). We mainly use it to track pastries, bagels, scones, etc.. We enter the inventory when items are delivered using the long press of the item right from the quick order screen. As we sell them the on hand quantity decreases.

There is a known bug (per support) where sometimes online orders get deducted twice.

Toast will remove the stock quantity when items are sold, however, Toast Inventory is being replaced with xtraCHEF and we are no longer offering the old "Toast Inventory".
If you still have this old module we are still supporting it until we eventually transition everyone to xtraCHEF. If you have more questions about this feel free to send a pm but more information about all of this can be found here:
