Refund Sales Tax for Tax Exempt Customers

I need to refund sales tax to tax exempt customers. I was intially able to do this on the POS through Edit Check > Pay > Refund > Tax Only. However, now when I go to edit check > pay, the refund option is no longer there. Just adjust or void check. How do I refund sales tax? Why is the refund option no longer there?

Is this a check that is from the current day or a previous day?

This check is for a future date, as our catering orders are scheduled in advance.

OK, refund should only appear for payments that have already been batched. I think what you want to do in this case is update the check and add the tax exemption, then adjust the payment.
