Tips without Purchase

We often have onsite catered events and now that people don’t carry cash, they ask how to tip without making a purchase. Customers ask employees for a Venmo Acct, but using our POS would be much better for looking and for declaring. Is it possible to use the handhelds as a digital tip jar? Any suggestions?

I was able to make this work....

Create a new order.
Tap the "Add Item" button.
Search for the "Tip" item and tap on it.
Enter the amount of the tip.
Tap the "Process" button.
The customer will be prompted to enter their credit card information.
Once the customer has entered their credit card information, tap the "Process" button again.
The tip will be processed as a regular credit card transaction.
Note: You may need to create a new order type for tips. To do this, go to Settings > Order Types and tap the + button. Enter a name for the new order type, such as "Tip Order," and tap Create.

Once you have created a new order type for tips, you can use the steps above to accept a tip on a credit card without making a transaction/sale.

Example:

Create a new order by tapping the + button.
Tap the "Add Item" button and search for the "Tip" item. Tap on the "Tip" item.
Enter the amount of the tip, such as $5.00.
Tap the "Process" button.
The customer will be prompted to enter their credit card information.
Once the customer has entered their credit card information, tap the "Process" button again.
The tip will be processed as a regular credit card transaction.
