Kds updates with new smaller size sticky labels

Hello,

I received an email the other day saying new updates were coming to allow new smaller sticky labels to be printed. We have wanted to use this feature but haven't ordered it yet since the labels were too large. I can't find any information on when this update will be released and how small the new labels will be for us to use? Also, I am use to sticky labels that are cut from the printer and applied to an item. I have found info in Toast central that the labels you use are actual peel and stick labels on a roll. Can I get confirmation on this? In general, who can I speak to that is an expert on this so I don't purchase anything and have to return it later.

I use epson tm L90. Liner free sticky label roll. Uncertain about when smaller label will be available.

Release notes just say version 2.69, doesn't specify which build though, just checked a restaurant on 2.69 build 2 and I don't see anything different in the printer setup options yet.

Hi @Rob . We have been using the label printer for a few a couple months now and do really enjoy it. We have an issue though. Occasionally the printer shoots out as many as 20 blank labels just to print out 1 item. This happens enough that it is a huge waste of labels we have to throw away. Are you familiar with any trouble shooting we can do to try and correct this from happening? Thank you.

Hi @Rob. Thank you for following up. We have tried all of the trouble shooting steps so far. Nothing helps. We only use one label printer. It only happens with the one. We buy the labels from the link that Toast says to buy from. We buy these labels. https://www.onlinelabels.com/products/rl936dt.

Product RL936DT - 3" x 1.5" Thermal Roll Labels - 1" Core / 4" Outer Diameter

These are the new smaller labels that Toast recently approved using. Perhaps it is something with the formatting these smaller labels? We are wasting a huge amount of labels so anything you can do to expedite this issue will be appreciated.

@Rob to give you an example, last night someone ordered one item, the printer sent out 24 blank labels and one label for the item. Unfortunately we can not reuse these blank labels since they are not rolled up so we just toss them. Can you escalate this issue before we start losing too much money on labels? Thank you.

Which label printer do you have? And have you been using the same type/brand of thermal label all the time?

I have the Toast item label printer, purchased new directly from Toast. Last night I was on the phone with customer care for over an hour and we decided to exchange this printer. They are sending me a new one. Keep in mind though, this will now be the third one I have had since December as the first one didn't work either. No one can figure out why this is happening. I hope the new I get resolves the issue but I expect it won't. Yes, I have been using the same size/type/brand label from the beginning. Purchased directly from the link Toast provided to use for this printer. Trust me, something is fishy here.

It could be software issue with Toast TLP400. I have been using Epson TM-L90. Haven't had a problem so far.

That's good to know. If this new printer comes and doesn't work as well, I will be insisting that they return it and send me the Epson one. It's the same cost. I only bought the Toast version as I assumed they had made sure that it worked well if not better than the Epson one. I mean why put your name on it if they haven't made sure it works?
