topic Tip Claiming in Restaurant Operations

Hello everyone,

I am about a week in a half into learning toast operations as a GM. We are a small cafe and bar coming off of R Power. The way we operate is there is one bartender in charge of a drawer and is responsible for tipping everyone out at the end of the shift. They would track tips under each persons name and when punching out, claim those tips under each employee who was working. After the bartender punched the amount in under each employee, the ending amount would equal whatever tips they were walking with.

Ex: $200 cc tips

Emp 1: $50. Emp 2: $50 Emp 3: $50

The balance would then say $50 for that bartender.

Long story short, my owner has been trying to talk with toast on how the bartender with a locked drawer does not have all the credit card tips under their name since they are tipping out the other employees. The tip pooling does not seem like it is something that could work with our high volume atmosphere, etc. Does anyone have any answers? It would be nice if each person working could claim their own tips when they punch out. Each person working is usually under the job code bartender or cook. We do not have servers and each employee is tipped evenly for the entire shift.

Thanks to anyone who can help.
