In our toast menu, we make sure there are no duplicated items. this insures if something is set out of stock, it's set out of stock system wide no exceptions.

this can run into some problems however, when it comes to copying.

copying is not recursive, so when you copy a menu, while the menu itself is unique, all the modifier and items in that menu are the same.

this means we're unable to edit those and make changes (they'll be changed system wide) unless we also manually make copies of each sub section.

I would love to see a recursive copy option added, with the ability to set how many levels down will be copied. This would greatly strengthen workflow.

Curious to hear your opinions!

@tragan Have you tried the "deep copy" option? By doing this, you are duplicating the item, but you can change the name and make it a "new item" per say. Check out this link and see if it helps at all.

Reuse or Copy Menu Groups, Items, and Modifiers (toasttab.com)
