We have a bar with multiple bartenders who open tabs for customers. Later those customers will order drinks from other bartenders to add to their tab. How do others handle that? Is there a way for bartenders to view other tabs (open tickets) from other bartenders without have to see all the open orders from the servers? I other pos systems I have been able to do this but cannot figure it out in Toast. Any suggestions?

There is no way for bartenders to see other orders without allowing them access to everyone's orders. You would need to either have all the bartenders use one universal code or give them access to view all orders. I have also attached the Permissions Reference Guide for your review.

I don't think that's what it is designed for but would using groups be a possible solution? Never have used it but doesn't it keep devices from syncing with others and would keep other orders from being on them?

hmm... That's an interesting idea, and it might work; you need permission to view and edit orders. Then set up the device groups, but that should work! @TheBootGrill, if you try this out and it works, let me know!

I contacted our internal teams, and they said we are working on new filtering in the payment terminal experience that should help with this. If you send me a Dm with your email and restaurant address, I can relay this info if you want to test this new experience!

When we have more than one bartender working, they operate the register under a pooled bartender code/person in Toast. That pooled bartender login is then used by toast tip manager and auto-separates the tips evenly to the bartenders

We are in the same boat... still in the setup phase and trying to figure this out at the moment. Two registers at each of two different bars with multiple bartenders each, and a separate retail package store. We are moving from Aloha which we could set up permission groups no problem so it's frustrating. I've tried a handful of different things to no avail. No way to filter by job code, service area, revenue center, etc. which is a bit ridiculous to me. Our onboarding specialist just emailed me back today and told me to try creating new "dining options" for our two different bar areas and store, and then from each device you can filter the tabs to be shown by "dining option". Ours would be "Front Bar", "Back Bar", and "Package Store". I'm not in the office today to implement and see if it actually works, but will update tomorrow... but this is what we plan to try. If this doesn't work I'm not sure what we will do.

I believe this feature is coming, I currently have a filter by my role option in check filters, when selected it shows all checks with the same job role. You can check under filters to see if you have it yet.

I reached out to my team about this issue and they suggested setting an Advanced Filter by role on your terminal to resolve this!

We're moving to Toast PayCards and this is something I've been concerned about, since they pool tips.

Are you doing the tip pooling or is Toast? We're moving to Toast PayCards and this is an issue.

Toast Tips is allocating the money to the bartenders based on a formula installed in the tips manager. It is effortless on my end. By bartenders clock in under a bartender job, barracks under a barback job, bartender in training (if I have any) under their job. The tip manager dishes out the percents to the bar back and the bartender in training and their takes the rest and splits it among the bartenders based on the amount of hours they worked for the shift
