Hello, We just transitioned from Aloha to Toast. Love it but need a "DO NOT MAKE" button for every item on our menu. Spent time on the phone with toast and he was not able to assist. Any info or guidance is appreciated. Thanks

There is no built-in system modifier for don't make , just create your own, I have a modifier group for miscellaneous things like Don't make, see server, etc and anything that could apply to everything.I attach that modifier to every menu group, a little tedious if you have a lot but you do it once and then you can add buttons to that group whenever you need them and it's on every item automatically. Also recommend setting visibility for POS only so it does not show up online.

We have toast now and we (It is in the UI properties) have a special request button so they just click that and then type NO MAKE. Have to be careful though because they can special request basically anything and it turns into the typewriter on Aloha.

We’ve set up a similar configuration to what rcmck described, where we created a 'Words & Prep Mods' modifier group that is only visible in the POS and attached it to every menu group which then will show under each menu item.

There are three ways to go about this.

1 is to create a modifier that says don't make and have it on every in house item

2. if it is certain items at certain station you can go into device options and add menus to non-firing prep station. (ex drinks at a bar POS).

3. you can create a dining option called don't make which will allow you to select the individual item and change the dining option to say don't make

I built every mod group with these buttons: (We get 5 buttons in a row)
Don't make...No...Add...Extra...On Side
Depending upon the item, then
Sub... Only...To Go (and 2 blank spaces)
If it is something that doesn't need mods, I created an item for Don't Make.
For example, a bar item like a draft or glass of wine.
Seems like a lot of work, but I have a mod group with these set up and just copy it over.
If I want to alphabetize, I do that first then just move those to the top.

I'm really, really **bleep** about a clean database, so I reuse everything appropriate. Even to the point of creating a new restaurant's menu and how I copy over. (Toast front-line help absolutely screwed me on this one, so I learned the hard way to keep it clean myself. )
Anyway, that's how I do it.

Every time someone types something in, it slows the process. Either on the FOH or BOH side.
Imagine my Spanish speaking kitchen getting "No Aioli use Mayo instead." (screeeech) as everything comes to a grinding halt.
People tend to read by the shapes of the word. Mods are standard. No Aioli Sub Mayo. WTH is "instead?"

Just an extreme, real life example.
Chicken = Ckn Chix Cx ...?

Extreme examples, but if you have buttons, it's always there and always the same.

Exactly what I've done in a way.
I'm also pretty careful with the Visible To thing. Google reviews copies the menus, right down to the visible mods. Grr.r..
