Pmix category for server contests?

We are running a sales contest with servers for our monthly features. I din't realize that this is not something that Toast reporting can track. I had a support conversation with Toast and they said they've put in a request for this functionality. I can't believe that this type of report isn't possible in Toast. I can make these all day long in NCR/Aloha. Anybody have a hack?

Hey, @Oddfellow, we don't have a way that auto-tracks this for you but we track employee sales individually and you can't check these reports link below for more information. There also may be a integration for this but I'm not sure; let me know if I misunderstood the request!

I am just flabbergasted that a restaurant POS can't do this type of reporting. It's something I've been able to do easily in every other RestaurantPOS I've ever used. I started a sales contest for monthly features and I guess I will have tyo manually build a spreadsheet to track sales with individual server reports. Any palns on adding this type of functionality? Surely there are other restaurants requesting it or is it just not possible in the Toast POS Architecture?

Maybe I am missing something but I don't see why you can't use the sales breakdown report for this

if the features is more than one item, I would just create a sales category specific for them, then just run the report by sales category by server

@Oddfellow one possible workaround might be to create a modifier called 'contest' and make it a default (but not visible) modifier on each of the items that you want to count. Then run a product mix report by modifier to see how many times it was sold... that would be easier than adding up all the different items.

I have not heard of a team working on this as of yet but we are currently updating our feature request system to be able to track these sort of requests better to make sure we are implementing feature that our customers want! If I hear that we are working on this feature I will update you to potentially be apart of its test!

Another technique we used was to create a subcategory, which would be included in the server's end-of-night Z report. For instance, if we wanted to track sales of wines by the glass, we would create a new subcategory within the beverages category. However, this approach had a downside: we had to inform the accounting team about the new category.

Been running server contests for over twenty years. Started here and while I am semi familiar with toast i had only programmed it for others while consulting. This is my first go round using it in day to day operations. I just assumed we could do pmixes for server contests. Had to do February manually server by server, what a pain. I still can't believe it's not built in. Weird to have to do a hack to track item sales by category by server, every other POS system I've ever used it's almost automatic.

I just joined this community to ask this question. So surprised toast can’t track this. It would take forever to look at individual sales of every server every day to see if they sold said item. Hopefully they will fix this soon

What gets me is the feigned surprise that an operator would want this functionality. It's been a common practice for us for over 20 years. The architecture of Toast is 2D in a 3D world.

The odd thing is you could before (see my reply on this thread) but I just went to check and view by item name in the sales breakdown has disappeared.

Because we're trying to track what each server sells on specific items within certain categories
