Discounting of weighed items under a lb

We run Toast Retail and run Toast in our restaurant (2 "locations"). On the retail side we use a scale generated embedded barcode to read price. Toast will discount weighed fractional items over a lb correctly for % off but not $ off discounts. Toast will not perform either discount with weights less than a lb. Ex: Strip Steak 1.54lbs, no problem with a 10% discount, will do $ off but only on the first lb not fractional. Ex: Ground Beef 0.95lb, won't discount a % off, but if its 1.01lb no problem, discounts at $ off cannot be performed.

Inablity to do fractional $ off, and % off less is causing long lines with our cashier as the only workaround is an open item, requiring our cashiers to know every sale in the store or use a cheat sheet to remember and use a calculator to price the open item.

We have made the request for a change though our onboarding rep, through Toast reps, and more. The only response we get is "we are aware and working on it".

Why can't Toast provide a timeline or at least some level of Toasts perceived urgency/priority on the fix, its maddening that we get "filtered" through reps and agents with no dev team communication. Additionally maddening, is that when posting to the board there is no Retail specific area, or label that fits posts like this.

This is a big challenge for us as well. The open item work around is not feasible for us. I want to make sure this is getting attention.

Appreciate the support. Toast is wonderful and maddening at the same time, to us communicating a fix deadline would be a start to know they at least have it on their radar.

Thanks Rob. It's a really important thing for us, but we can work around it / change operations if we have a timeline.

Thanks Rob, appreciate your help, we are running near $100k a week through Toast Retail and its creating consistent pay line delays using the work around of an open item (which of course not only requires cashier training on the weekly sales and a calculator, but as an open item it won't report with other sales of the same product).

I wanted to provide an update regarding the issue. I have confirmed with my team that we are aware of the bug and are actively working to resolve it. I do not have a timeline for when a fix will be available. I just wanted to assure everyone that we are working towards a solution!

Robert, its been 75 days....any progress, update on this, seems it would be an important issue with Toast.

I noticed an update on June 4th saying that this issue has been fixed. Checking in with internal teams to confirm what the fix was and see how to update your location. You want this change made for both your locations correct?

Hi Rob - I haven't seen this update pushed through and just tested and the under 1 pound items are still not discounting.

We've not seen it either. Yes, though one is a restaurant and one a butcher shop ....don't run Retail on the restaurant side.

Hi Rob - I just checked, and no, it has not been resolved. I'm attaching pictures of a Porterhouse steak with a weight under 1 being scanned showing that there are no discount options available, and then one with a weight over 1 being scanned showing that there are discount options available.

I’m out of town til Monday but our staff tells me it resolved with an Aug 1, update ! Incredible if it did , will report back after a busy Saturday today…we were open item ringing 100 trans a week under a lb so we are crossing our fingers!

@Rob can you confirm that the update has been pushed to our location? I have another butcher shop coming to demo the product tomorrow and it would be really advantageous to make sure that's working to show off the capabilities. Thanks!

As I said I was out of town and upon return have discovered that we are NOT discounting for items under a lb. See the attached sale items for this week our butcher shop, all under a lb all on sale none discounting at the POS and all requiring open items. This is not solved.
