Refunding deposit on customer invoice?

We have a customer invoice that has a remaining balance after the deposit was paid. However, the event was cancelled within the timeframe that we still offer deposit refund.

I want to confirm the steps of the process before I move forward with refunding the deposit and cancelling/voiding the invoice. Any help would be appreciated!!!

Screenshot #1: The deposit paid was $81.19 on June 24 out of a total invoice amount of $162.38.

Screenshot #2: When selecting "Refund payment," the only options offered are to refund the full invoice amount of $162.38.

Screenshot #3: If I choose "refund custom amount" I see "Original Amount $162.38" and then in the Amount field it says "Original Amount: $81.19".

Is this the correct method to refund the actual amount paid? I still see a future date of 09/19/2025 on this screen, will this affect the date of the refund for the deposit?
Once this amount is refunded, do I have an option to cancel or void the entire invoice?

Thank you for replying, but this is not the answer. Not sure why @Rob marked this as the solution.

The article is for Toast Catering and Events, which is a subscription.

I need help with my Customer Invoice.

If I follow the directions on the above article and navigate to Toast Catering/Events on my portal, I am just directed to sign up for an additional subscription.

This does not solve my issue.

Customer Invoice feature is a free entry level tool for catering/event that toast offers. The subscription offers more features. I believe the refund/adjust payment process are the same.

The other way to issue a refund would be find the order under "Find checks & issue refund".
