I believe I came up with a pretty good work around for this! I have been having the same issues. We are using the Mobile Order and Pay for room service orders, we need them to be plated as Takeout. Table numbers and everything were still being missed by staff.

What you can do, especially if you use a separate menu for these orders, you can set an automatic COURSE for everything ordered in that menu. Make one that says "TAKE OUT" or whatever you need. It comes in bold at the very top where it would normally say APP or ENTREE. Much more noticeable. Just make sure you enable that new course on your KDS so they are actually visible.

I am a small restaurant who will be using QR codes for hotel room service. I am looking for any help from anyone who is currently doing this. so far I have mapped every room as a table on the POS and created codes for each room. I have created a separate Service area for Room Service and included an auto grat. for that service area. here are the things that are stumping me:

1) is there a way for the customer to choose if they want room delivery or just to order online for pick up; like a dining option they can choose so I don't have to have two separate QR codes in the room? one for pick up and one for room delivery?

2) how do I change the room service orders to default as a to-go order? right now it is default for here.

3) since we have a lot of online orders as well we have a fake "employee" set up to receive the "online order" tips, however we want a different person to receive the tips for the room service but the transactions go under the same "online ordering" employee. can I create a separate fake"employee" that only the QR orders will go to?

any other tips would be great!

thanks!

Hey! thanks for reaching out with these great questions!

1) You can streamline the process by allowing customers to choose their preferred dining option, I think you can do this by setting up custom dining options. Set Up Custom Dining Options

2) To change room service orders to default as a to-go order, you will need to select a specific device for this image attached for more info.

3) You can create a separate "employee" profile specifically for room service orders to manage tips separately from online orders. Similarly on how you created the other fake employee, but not able to confirm if these orders will automatically go to this new employee

With the toast mobile order and pay platform I do not see an option for the guest to select a dining option on their phone. I see that as an option for takeout or delivery with the regular online ordering but not for the Order and pay.

Mobile order and pay requires a dining option with a behavior of dine in, (not entirely sure if it is possible to assign a specific dining option to MO&P) but you could create a dining option that implies it is takeout in the name while keeping the behavior of dine-in. But there is no way to require a selection for dining option from the guest, but it could be helpful for the kitchen.

You could use a menu item that would function as a room service or pickup selection, maybe in combination with the spotlight message to direct them to make a selection. This post might be helpful

As far as the assigned employee you should be able to use the same virtual employee as you do for online orders.

Oh that sounds like a very nice work around... thanks so much for sharing!

so I haven't used the course function much yet... would you then make a blind copy of your entire menu and then do you assign that room service menu as a "Take-Out" course? it will do it automatically?

You can make a copy of the menu, then there is a option to make everything in the menu default to a course you selected. Every time that menu is ordered from, it'll say the name of that course at the top.
