Issues setting up BOGO Offer

I am trying to setup a discount "Buy 2 Entrees, Get One App Free." Following the instructions in the tutorial (https://doc.toasttab.com/doc/platformguide/adminDiscountsConfigureBogo.html), I have added the menu groups for the required purchase and the require menu group for the free item. At the bottom of the page, under the advanced settings, I have changed the required to "2" and the get to "1". When I save the settings, everything seems fine. However, when I double check the settings, the required number has changed to "1". If I change back to "2" and try to save again, I receive an error stating "Max Quantity must be greater than or equal to Min Quantity."

This appears to be a bug in Toast, as I also recently encountered it and was unable to fix it.

The only thing I could do was create a brand new discount.

I have not had time to submit a ticket as I wasn't sure if this was my issue or Toast's, but looks like I can refer them to this post now.

I have submitted a ticket and have an expert as well as our RSM working on it with the development team. Hoping this is resolved soon.

It's not a bug. I would call it's not coded properly. For buy two get one free, you need to set it up as buying two entree items. The minimum quantity will always be "1" because the program considers the whole grouping as "one item".

It's definitely a bug or coding issue. I have the settings as you mentioned, but the issue comes in to play towards the bottom of the settings under "Advanced." Where I should set the "Required" to 2, and the "Get" to 1.

But, if I set it like that, that is when I get the original error message. If I flip the two numbers, I am able to save the settings but then the discount is incorrect.

If you are referring to this section, this only applies if the buy and get is set to any item, not a specific item. I believe you can just ignore it.

It worked for me. I ran bogo promotion in October many times.

Set requierd # to "1".

For buy items, add a new grouping and then include the entire entree menu two times like the picture in my last post. and then give it a try

It's also always worked for me, but then there was some strange instance where this bug was triggered and setting the "required # of items" to anything other than "1" displayed that error.

I was testing multiple BOGO configurations and everything was working correctly, and then suddenly it started to show that error.

I'm not sure what triggered it, but I was testing some pretty big changes to the discount, like changing it from BOGO to percent off and back again 😅

That is what I thought too. I had a working bogo discount with required buy item set to any number years ago and it stopped working for some reason later on.

My guess is that it has to do with how bogo discounted items are grouped on the system now after an update.

Hello everyone. Thank you for all of the feedback. The Care expert and an engineer have been working on this for us. They have resolved the issue. Now, we are trying to get the settings to work with "Offers."

There was a coding bug. Beyond that, I'm not exactly sure what the issue was or how it was resolved. The engineering team worked out the issue. Now, I have been able to add my necessary entrees along with the free item choices. I can now set the required number and the free number as needed, the correct way.
