topic Ideas on how to incentivize the right behavior for BOGO gift card promo in Restaurant Operations

Hi All,

For the last couple holiday seasons, we've run a BOGO gift card promotion. Essentially spend $50 or more on gift cards and get a bonus gift card for the purchaser. This year we've started tracking eGiftcard purchases and have discovered that almost half of our GC purchases are regulars who see this as a way to get free money.

Our intention for this promotion is to bring in two tables - one for the recipient and another for the purchaser. Using Toast's giftcard solution, welcome ideas on how to incentive the right behavior here.

We run a hybrid retail store/restaurant - so for physical GCs we write "Dine-in only" on the bonus GC to ensure it's used for our higher margin restaurant. But unable to enforce this w/ eGiftcards as they can be used via our online store. We are looking into the voucher feature which I know can be restricted to specific menu groups.

Thanks!

So the way to do this would be buy a gift card get a free voucher. And the voucher is set to the value you want and you can restrict usage.

KEEP IN MIND WHEN CREATING GIFT CARD PROMO's. Gift card balances are Liabilities that cannot expire for nine years from last use and generally when selling a business you are responsible for paying to whomever buys. Vouchers, or promotional cash are allowed to be restricted, have no cash value and can expire
