Just wanted to share an unfortunate experience. We were very excited to purchase a new barcode scanners. This was a first for our restaurant but we thought this Barcode Scanner was ultimately going to be a huge help for our teams. Before purchasing, I see it says compatible with all terminals and then I even ask the chat if I need any special software... They say it's fine! So I spent $700+ getting these for my locations only to find in fact NO they don't work. I need a new printer. I work on disputing this but I need this up and running for the holidays so I get the printer. THEN guess what.... The printer that TOAST recommended. Guess what, the printer doesn't work with the terminal. So 2 weeks after ordering the scanner and a 2 hour phone call. I need $3000+dollars for new terminals. No thank you. I'm returning everything.

Quadruple check what they are offering (oh and read the installation paperwork too because apparently THAT is where it will tell you if it works or not with your equipment. That makes total sense).

I have one of these from Toast and it works fine. I don't think you need a new printer for it to work. It's plug and play.

Thanks for reaching out to the community with your feedback. I apologize for how this process went. I will be sharing this feedback with the product team!

Hardware compatibility can depend on terminal generation, printer model, and software version. While many peripherals are compatible across supported devices, older hardware may require upgrades. I'm curious to know what model hardware you have. If you can share it, I'll add this feedback to the product team!

I completely understand that at a certain point upgraded equipment will have more features than older. The frustration was the lack of transparency along the way and really not having a solution.

We have 14" Toast Flex Terminals

Toast POS application version

2.102.0

I have reached out to our product team with this feedback, and if anyone else has had a similar experience, please let me know. We are working to improve our processes to prevent this from happening again!

It's insane to me that Toast has released Toast go3 and did not implement the barcode scanner to work. How the **** does the toast go2 have this perfected and not the toast go3 not even activate this feature....fine maybe its something with the new hardware....ok but how the **** does toast go2 have the ability to connect to a bluetooth barcode scanner, while toast go3 disabled this? that should not have been an issue. Toast messed up with this portable hardware and pushed to release this early and didn't even make use of its features.

Hi Rob. Again the biggest frustration is that no one seems to know what your equipment is compatible with.

I've attached the transcript from my chat where the rep explicitly tells me this will work.

12:18 PM | Jamie from Toast: Of course! I apologize about any miscommunication that may have happened. To confirm, almost none of our accessories will work outside of the Toast Hub, TP200 or TP300. Just for any future reference.

12:19 PM | Jamie from Toast: Was there anything else I could assist you with today Kristi?

12:19 PM | Kristi Weissman: For those devices. Can you confirm that they are compatible with the terminals I have now? I would hate to order new printers and find that there is an issue

12:22 PM | Jamie from Toast: Yes, the TP300 is what we currently have for sale as we are phasing out the Toast Hub and TP200. You will be able to connect that to your Toast Flex terminals.

12:23 PM | Kristi Weissman: great. I appreciate it!

12:23 PM | Jamie from Toast: Of course! All accessories will work with the TP300 printer.
