Hello,

We are trying to create a specific discount rule for our menu and could use some guidance. We want to set up a promotion where if a customer buys a specific quantity of items (X number of items), they automatically receive a percentage discount (Y% off) on those items

You can set it up like this and it should work as you want it to. I haven't tested personally but feel free to let me know if you encounter issues with it.

I tried this way but then it has to be same item. I was looking to do is they can mix any item from menu to get to required quantity. and discount would apply automatically

Although there is a way to achieve the desired outcome, it is not particularly straightforward. Can you share an estimate of how many menu items qualify for this promotion?

I have over 300 item in that menu.

This is a workaround method to achieve the desired result.

It will use the "BOGO" discount and you will need to create a new item (promo) with $0 price to act as the trigger for the promotion.

- Add the new item (promo) to "Buy Items" as it is required to purchase to receive the discount.
- Add the menu group with items that are eligible for discount to "Get Items"
-Set the desired discount behavior and discount (%, fixed price, or off by $)
-Check the "auto apply discount" box
- Set required buy item to 1
- Set Eligible get items to the number guests have to purchase to receive discount.

**There is an issue with this workaround, which is guests can still receive discount when they purchase less than the required quantity. For example: customers will still receive discount if they purchase only 2 eligible items while they are required to purchase 5. This issue can be, to some extend, fixed by adding a minimum spend requirement.

The minimum spend requirement will be "the cheapest eligible item" multiply by "required purchased quantity". For example, if the cheapest eligible item is $10 and guests are required to purchase 5 eligible items to receive discount, the minimum spend will be $50, which ensures discount will be applied only when 1) eligible items are added and 2) required quantity is met.

>> The workflow for staff will be:
1) add the $0 promo item (trigger) to the check first. (If you have a scanner, you can create a barcode for this item.)
2) proceed to ring up/scan merchandises.

There might be scenarios/situations that I didn't think of and are not covered by this method. But feel free to let me know if you have questions.
