topic Feature Request: Identify Managers Authorizing Schedule Enforcement Overrides in Restaurant Operations

First, some appreciation for the recent improvements to Time Entry Management and its audit history. Being able to see who created or modified a time entry, when, and through which interface is a welcome improvement.

One conspicuous omission remains, however: there’s no visible record of who authorizes a schedule enforcement override at the POS.

We’ve used schedule enforcement for more than two years. When an employee attempts to clock in or out beyond our configured grace period, Toast requires an authorized manager to enter their credentials to approve the exception.

But as far as I can determine, that authorization leaves no identifiable record in the Time Entry Audit.

This seems like a pretty significant gap. The entire purpose of schedule enforcement is to establish accountability around employee punches. If a manager authorizes an exception, we should be able to identify who approved it.

The request: Include schedule enforcement overrides in the existing Time Entry Audit, identifying:

The employee and associated time entry

Whether the override was for clock-in or clock-out

The manager who authorized it

The date and time of authorization

Ideally, these would appear alongside the existing creation and edit events, giving us a complete history of the time entry without requiring another report.

Toast already authenticates the approving manager, so presumably that identity is available at the time of authorization.

If this information is already captured and accessible somewhere else, I’d love to know where!

Otherwise, this feels like a fairly fundamental addition to the audit functionality, particularly for operators actively using schedule enforcement to manage labor.

Thanks!
