How can I change the settings so that employees can take home cash tips and then there shift review says what is left/owed by the us

Example they bring in 50 dollars in cash

Tips where 75

We owe 25 dollars

Can I do this with Toast? It's how our last POS shift review worked out.

Hey Rob,

This only works when there is enough cash brought in. Otherwise on shift review he said paid, but an employee didn't get all the cash. I need it to show partial payment so an employee can say he took home the 50 cash they brought in but they are still owed 25 on payroll because they made more than what cash was brought in.

Just wondering if you came up with any solution.

We had previously run that way and had to supplement with larger and larger Cash Drawer amounts. We have since hired Dishout for nightly transfers to employees which works great. Only issue remaining is the bookkeeping side of toast. When servers cash our negative (owed more tips than their cash sales) toast shows a "tipout" amount from bar brawer for the difference. This isn't accurate as all cash payment overages stay in drawer. Anyone have workaround? Report example attached. Generally shows more details but have omitted for privacy stuff.

We are new to Toast and running into the same issue. We are really trying to not carry a larger cash drawer to cover the tips. I was looking at the Toast card as it looks like employees can access their tips and even partial payroll a bit quicker but it looked like it was almost a line of credit.

How does dishout work out of curiosity and what is your workflow regarding it?

Just wanted to attach this info about the Toast Pay Card. Also I pulled out this section within the article;
