Jake
What features do you require for a payroll platform? I've used payroll for a while now, and it works great. However, I haven't subscribed to the tip manager yet as I had developed a spreadsheet to handle tip pooling with multiple pools and different payout percentages. It takes time to input employee hours worked for the day, but the spreadsheet handles the rest. I then import the data into toast payroll, and tips are paid appropriately. I'd be happy to discuss and show you what I developed and see if it might help in your situation.

Hi Community! Does anyone else have trouble managing the tips allocation when there should be multiple tip pools? It's so much work for us since we can't set the pooling rules that the Tips Manager feature allows for. Are we the only ones struggling with this? We can't transition to Toast Payroll because it doesn't have all the features we need, so we unfortunately can't get access to Tips Manager.

Cheers,

Jake

We're a brewery and use Toast for our taproom, but we have all the rest of the employees in our payroll obviously too. Brewery staff, the outside sales team, maintenance crew, etc. A lot beyond the typical restaurant style operation that Toast is built for. Plus our payroll system has a very extensive HR consultant package that we don't want to give up. I'd love to know what criteria your spreadsheet uses to separate the tips that came in and the rules it uses to divvy them up. Thanks
Cheers,
Jake

We are doing the same thing, and haven't been able to have Toast Tip pooling help. Still doing in manual excel sheet style for multiple pools.

Hello! I have attached an article on how you can pull tips with Toast, without using the Tips Manager. However, many locations find it easier to pull tips using an excel sheet as our process can be a bit confusing!

Pooling Tips and Tipping Out

We just switched back to dolce. Used to use it with breadcrumb but when we switched to toast it wasn't supported at the time. Went to 7shifts for scheduling and been doing custom spreadsheets. That was a royal pain. Luckily 7shifts raised their rates so I went looking back to dolce and see they now support toast and I can export right to gusto payroll which we had to switch to after QuickBooks hosed us with ORS and won't fix it, their fault. Whole other issue. Anyway. Worth checking dolce out. Tip pooling is great
