Has anyone paid Toast to build a custom API?

Just curious if this is even an option, the IT company we are working with came back with an astronomical quote so am wondering if anyone has done this?

Do you really need a custom API? or you can work with what is available and build some solution you need? I have done some extended analytics for some of my use case. but they are just POS for restaurant. And it seems to work well. If you want to send me what you are exactly looking for I can see if I can help.

I don't have access to the retail side of API's and struggling to find that. A friend of mine has Toast Retail for his grocery store and would love to get the same https://doc.toasttab.com/doc/devguide/apiOverview.html

I have built some tools for myself. I would be happy to check if its possible for your case.
