Appreciate the insight @au79teahouse. Will try this out and revert back. I would like to be able to that promo vis Offers instead of Discounts & Promo Codes, since the back end reporting is better. Do you know if there is a way to replicate that setup in Offers?

Issue with Toast Offers for Item Level Rewards

We have noticed several limitations when using Toast Offers, with one of the biggest ones being the ability to limit redemptions of an item-level reward to one per transaction.

I was working on an offer that has worked well for us in the past: Free Appetizer with a min spend threshold, say $30. This works fine in the POS, but for online ordering, mobile ordering or ordering via Local by Toast, if the guest adds multiple appetizers, all of them are discounted, instead of just one. It would be one thing if it gave one free appetizer for every $30 spent, but it discounts all starters in the cart even with just the base $30 spend requirement.

Anyone have a good work around?

Thank you,
Tinku, Tarka Indian Kitchen

Try to create a new BOGO (buy one get one free) discount under "Discount and promo codes".

- Set "Buy items" to "any item" if you are not restricting customers to buy specific items to receive discount.
- Set "Get items" to "specific items/group" and add desirable items to the list.
- Click "Add promo code " and add a promo code for online ordering channels (website and apps)
- Expand the "Advanced settings" section
- Set "min spend" to $30
- Set both "Required # of Buy Items" and "Eligible # of Get Items" to "1"
- Click "save" and "publish"
- Place a test order to see if the discount works as expected.

Testing this and it works as a Discount with Promo Code with the hidden code working in POS, Kiosk, Online Ordering, Branded Mobile App and the Local by Toast App. Appreciate the help, @au79teahouse! Just need Toast to up their game on the Offers side to allow the same restrictions.
