Tipping on balances remaining after gift card use

Hello I have visited several restaurants where when you use a gift card and have a remaining balance the customer will still be prompted to tip on the original balance. Is this possible in toast? I visited another restaurant using toast my bill was $220 paid by a $200 gift card, when I went to pay the balance with my credit card the tip was calculated on the remaining $20 balance only. I was at the keg similar experience only when it got to the tipping portion in shows the calculation on the total bill and not remaining balance after gift card use.

We have the same issue. I would love a solution to make sure that our servers are getting properly tipped without needing to tell customers that the tip values they see are after the gift cards have been taken off.

You could consider adding a service charge, but you’ll need to ask the guest if they'd like to add a gratuity before processing the payment. You can set it as either a fixed percentage or an open amount. Just remember to factor in taxes when setting up the auto-gratuity button.
