Large tabs causing terminal to crash

RandomBarManage
Soup II

Hello, we are running into an issue with large tabs causing the POS to freeze while trying to edit and pay the tabs. We have 40+ terminals and a few handhelds and have large ($50,000+) tabs along with cash/credit transactions. When combining the tabs the system lags/freezes as well when we try to house account the tab. We can't allow all staff to see other staffs tabs due to volume and the way our tip outs work. The issue seems to be the items not consolidating on the order screen, which I've been told can't be helped since we have to send the orders to track tabs. Our current workaround is to void the entire order and ring it all back in and modifying the quantity. Does any else have any ideas or solutions? Thanks.

Definitely have no experience with a setup that large or orders that large either, but I would look at order purge threshold and talk to toast about what they would recommend, I know the default is 800 but maybe they may recommend a different number for your situation. https://doc.toasttab.com/doc/platformguide/understandingHowOrdersAreSharedAndStored.html

Also do you utilize device groups at all? I would assume with that many devices it is not necessary for them all to be syncing orders with each other, again I would see what they recommend for that, some articles on this.

Thanks for responding. I have lowered the order threshold on POS in the office that is used for checkouts and closing duties but that didn't seem to help originally, I'll try lowering it to significantly less. Unfortunately, groups isn't an option with the way we are set up as a venue. We have parties that can be in every room or different events in some rooms while utilizing others. All depends on the day and the scale of the event.
