If you are looking at the weekly overview or dashboard then it is the same week and day of week from the previous year. If you use the sales report and compare dates and you use last week or last month it will also compare to the same day of the week from the previous year, if you choose a singular day or custom range then it is just the exact same calendar date or range from the previous year, so it may be comparing a Tuesday to a Wednesday for example.
