Tip pooling rules

For toast tip pooling rule set up, how do account for a ghost employee contributing tips and then a position no showing. For example Shared Bar (ghost) is the employee receiving tips and those are split between Bartenders (actual humans) and Bar backs (also humans).  If no barback is scheduled, all tips should go to the bartenders. However, toast is sending the barback share back to Shared Bar, which I don't want. How do I set this up properly?

Hey, thanks for reaching out to the community! Here is one way to set this up!

1. Navigate to **Employees > Payroll management > Tip pooling policy** in Toast Web.
2. Select the **+Add pool** to create a new pool or edit an existing one.
3. Under **Which jobs receive tips from the pool?**, select the recipient jobs (bartenders and barbacks).
4. Use the **Advanced options** to adjust how tips are shared:
 - Under **How are tip shares calculated?**, choose to split the contribution among recipients by **percentage**.
 - Ensure that if a rule is set to contribute to a job that had no employees clocked in (like the barback), the contribution percentage for that job will **return to the contributor** (bartenders in this case).
5. Save your changes to update the tip pooling rules.

Please let me know if this works for you!

Unfortunately this doesn't work because the tips are generated by Shared bar, which is not human, so I don't want the tips reverting to them.

oh I see, so for this part:

Ensure that if a rule is set to contribute to a job that had no employees clocked in (like the barback), the contribution percentage for that job will go to the Bartenders. **return to the contributor** (bartenders in this case).

Is there no option to set it to go to the Bartenders here?

Not currently, but it seems like that might be the only way to go forward and make this workable.
