How to Manage Your Menu Visibility Settings in Toast

Whether you're looking to whip up something new, spice up your existing menu, or take advantage of seasonal ingredients, Toast will help you rise to the occasion. You can even customize which menus are visible to different devices and systems. Here are the steps to manage your menu visibility settings, either in the Menu, Group or Item itself or in Advanced Properties by using the Show/Hide options!

Updates from the “Menu” section

1. Navigate to the Menus section in Toast's back-end and select Edit Menus.
2. Select the menu you want to adjust and scroll down to Properties in the Advanced Properties section.
3. Select where you want to make the menu available in the Visible To section: In-store orders: POS, In-store orders: Kiosk and Order & Pay, Online orders: Toast, and Online orders: Ordering partners.
4. Select Save and Publish Now to complete the setup.
5. Repeat the steps above to manage visibility settings for Menus, Menu Groups, Menu Items, and Modifier Groups.
   
   

Updates from the “Advanced Properties” section 

1. Navigate to the Menus section in Toast's back-end and select Advanced properties.
2. Using the Show/Hide drop-down menu, select Visible To.
3. Check or uncheck the menus, groups, or items you want to make visible for POS, Kiosk, Order & Pay, Online Ordering, and Partners.
4. Save and publish your changes!

Note: If you set the visibility for a Menu, the Groups and Items within that Menu will follow the same visibility rules as the Menu based on the menu hierarchy. For example, you can easily uncheck a Group or Item if you would like to exclude it from Online Ordering.

Hidding and Unhidding Menus from Devices

Looking to customize your menus on specific devices for your bar or restaurant? Toast has made showing and hiding specific menus on select devices easy. Follow these simple steps to set up hidden menus and re-enable them on your desired devices:

1. Navigate to the Menus section in Toast's back-end, and select Advanced Properties.
2. Use the Visible To tool in the Show/Hide column or select the menu you wish to hide and scroll down to the Properties section of the menu detail page.
3. Deselect In-store orders: POS from the Visible To section.
4. Save and Publish your changes.
5. On the device where you wish to have access to the hidden menu, select the Toast logo in the top left corner to access the Device Menu.
6. Once in the Device Menu, scroll down to the Setup section and select Device Setup.
7. Select the Re-enable Hidden Menus option. The prompt will allow you to select what hidden menus you want to re-enable.
8. Repeat steps 5-7 for any other devices that need access to the hidden menu.
