End of Day report report VS drawer history/cash audit

Hello,

Which report gives me the information that ACTUALLY happened to cash on a particular day?

My end of day report says cash collected was $461.81 and tip outs were $361.20

Close out overage =$95.18

My cash drawer /cash audit reports say cash collected was $245.90 and tip outs were $172.50.  I had one server that worked but I guess did not close out properly.  If I add her numbers to the cash drawer/cash audit report I still don't match.

Which report is accurate as far as what happened to cash that day?  What are Z reports and are these the same as the end of day and cash drawer reports I have access to view.

Does toast provide some kind of audit report that shows all changes that have been made to a particular day?  I know it is possible to make adjustments to these reports as I have seen these reports change.  Does any report capture these changes?

I am a senior accountant that is responsible for providing financial reporting for several restaurants and I feel I am not looking at the right reports.

Thank you

I can totally understand your frustration over the discrepancies you have experienced so far. For some accountants, even one cent difference can be mind-boggling.

The reports mentioned by Rob are the reports that will help you figure out the cash activity on the day. To audit cash activity/adjustment, "Drawer history report" is the one that shows all the activities on the day. Managers cannot adjust the end of the day report. If managers were to adjust the numbers on the report, they had to do it through cash in, cash out, receive cash payment, etc, which all of them will leave a track on the Drawer History Report. However, given the correct permission managers are able to adjust the "starting drawer balance".

Thank you so much!!
