Item coursing...

Hello team

I am reading through some of the "new pos" materials, and was interested in the "coursing" portion.

In the past, we opted not to use coursing because it would put the ticket up on the expo screen and the ticket time would be artificially inflated (ie apps rung in at 6pm; entrees coursed at the same time would start clocking at 6pm as well, so when the entrees hit the table it appeared to be 30min checks).

Is that still occuring with the new pos? Does anyone know a good workaround? We really want to utilize the "hold" and coursing features, but don't want the ticket times to be adversely affected.

Thank you as always!
Patience

Maybe they thought that was best for getting started, reduce the risk of mistakes. I've used it both ways, all at once and individual by servers (they still can send all at once if they select all courses) The benefit if the servers do it individually is the ticket time issue you described, as well as the kitchen not having to control the meal pacing and possibly sending 2nd course before first or not enough time with the first course. A lot easier if FOH sends controls that and sends the courses when the table is ready, but that adds the possibility of "I forgot to send".

It depends on how you have it setup, sounds like you had it set to send all courses immediately, if they were sent individually each course would start at 0. (This applies to old and new pos) Same thing would happen with the new server item firing, whatever is sent starts at 0 on the expo screen.

Hmmmmm.....

So when I was told how to set it up, I remember the tech telling me that it should be "all courses immediately" but I don't recall the benefit that he shared to that choice.

Have you seen it both ways? What would change between one and the other?

Thanks for your help and advice!

I think the "forgot to send" is one reason we didn't adopt the "course when ready" method the first time we tried.

Thank you for the suggestion, rcmck!
