Porting over Gift Cards

How do we port over the active gift cards from our old system, especially where the local rep doesn't return calls

Do you have the gift card liability report from the old provider? They should definitely be taking care of this during your onboarding ( Maybe @Rob can help ) but it is not really that complicated to do yourself if you are familiar with excel or google sheets and feel comfortable doing it.  https://central.toasttab.com/s/article/Importing-Gift-Cards

Thank You. We have access to the old system because we still have to use it for the gift card redemption. Should be able to procure that report.

@MichaelFloyd I can definitely get you some help here if you need further assistance just send me a Dm with your restaurant information! I see @rcmck gave you the link that breaks this process down but if you need more help feel free to reach out!

@MichaelFloyd Just keep in mind you are not “porting” over the gift cards persay, you are importing the data of the magnetic strip or barcode on your gift cards and assigning them a value that will be deducted from. If you have other locations or places that use the gift cards that are not in the same restaurant group and subgroup for gift cards the balances will not be debited from the balance on the original system. Or if your gift card provider holds on to the money until the payment is made this will not work. You will have to set up an integration with that gift card company which is easy to do.
For us we created new gift cards because we have other stores still on the old system that use the same gift cards. If a customer came in to our store and we imported their balance of $100 it would deduct their order from that on our system but the customer would still have $100 on the other system to spend
