The little guys of the Toast world!

Hey bakery type people! I would love to connect with any of you about how your experience with Toast has been thus far. I have found that there are some functions that are meant to help our business but aren't fully fleshed out or are patch-worked together and therefore not functional to the level they could be. For example, I wish there was a separate menu for future orders that you could set limitations on as you wish rather than the same menu for today's same-day orders speaking to orders days or even weeks from now. It doesn't make sense that if we are out of a flavor of cookie today, someone cannot order it a week (or even a couple days) from now. We have also wanted to place limitations on the size of order someone can place with various lead times but the lead time and limitations are set so in line with restaurant functioning rather than bakery functioning so there isn't a way to prevent folks from ordering as many items as they want for pick up tomorrow.

One additional item we've been focusing on trying to find a solution for is scheduling deliveries with our own drivers. With Toast functioning best for scheduling using their DoorDash drivers, it doesn't work great with planning deliveries for your own drivers because we don't have an endless supply of drivers as DoorDash in a way does. If deliveries could be scheduled for windows or simply dates, it would serve our business and regulate expectations with our guests better!

If anyone has found solutions to these items, I'd love to connect! Hopefully together we can make Toast better and better or at least find solutions 🙂

I am facing some of the same huddles. I sell online and deliver at predetermined dates and times. It is a headache. I had to create a menu Item for my delivery dates and times that the customer can add to their cart. Once the order comes in I have to manually schedule and approve. Its a real PITA. I would really love to see a way to leave my online ordering left on 24/7 and customers have to schedule their delivery within a block of time and not just whenever they choose.

Thanks for reaching out about these issues when dealing with a Bakery. I can better relay these issues to our internal teams for review!

Thanks, Rob. We've been trying to get some attention on these issues for some time now. The 86ing issue is especially a problem and really hurts sales. And, as Gary agreed, scheduling deliveries with your own drivers should have the guests select windows of time versus specific times throughout the designated delivery time. Speaking of deliveries, toggling off "accept same day delivery orders" should absolutely be an option to simplify things. We set the required notice to 10 hours which works but seems like it could be just a simple preference edit.

Really hoping we can find some solutions here!

"Speaking of deliveries, toggling off "accept same day delivery orders" should absolutely be an option to simplify things" This, yes! 100%.  I know it's a reach, but I would love it if the customer could select a delivery "appointment" from a calendar.
