Can someone direct me to the correct setting? We have always had this problem of a customer inserting their card and the payment processes, before we have a chance to finish putting in all items, and before we even select "pay" on our side of the screen.

Update: In 2.74 it will be possible to enable guest pay without a second magnetic card reader or a guest facing display

Possibly, you should see two card readers in device setup, you need to assign guest pay to the toast tap on the counter if not already.

I'm not sure if there is a setting to prevent a card from being read once it's inserted into the reader, but the article below goes into detail about the payment process.

If you have a basic magnetic strip reader attached to the terminal with an on counter reader or guest facing display you will have the option to assign one to guest pay and the card reader won't be active until guest pay is selected. https://central.toasttab.com/s/article/Guest-Pay-and-Dual-Reader-Functionality-with-Toast-Tap

I have a guest facing display, with the toast tap cube on the counter (it takes chips, or taps, and has a magnetic strip reader all in one cube). My device setup shows that the card reader is already set to "employee", however, the guest is still able to process their card before the cashier has even clicked on the "pay" button. From the tutorial, it looks like the "employee" setting is correct for what I need, but the problem persists. Or am I misunderstanding the tutorial?
