Need to create a bulk discount for a required item. Minimum 1 and Maximum 5

All I want to do is create a discount for a certain item (sandwich) and have them be able to get a fixed amount ($2) off up to 5 sandwiches. I see where this is called "BULK DISCOUNT", but it is unavailable to me? I have been waiting one week for a Toast expert to get back with me. Such a simple discount, yet I am struggling. Can anyone give me some insight? Thanks in advance!

Bulk discount is only an option when you create a "combo" discount.

Thank you for your reply. It does work when you choose Discount Type - Fixed $ Off, but to make the Bulk Discounts show up you have to select Entire Check in the Applies to section. Which to me does not explain it correctly.

If you select a certain item that is only to be discounted, (under Must include one of) you should only be able to apply the discount however many times you entered in the Maximum value.

Also the big issue is while you can set a "Maximum" number that the discount is applied to, the discount is generated by the Item you selected, NOT the Maximum allowed per guest check. So you can attach the discount to each 5 items you ring up, and it will take the value off up to 5. Then you can select the item again and again and continue to apply the discount. Dumbest set up ever. Their Discount section defiantly needs some work.

I don't know about anyone else, but the reason you put a limit on, is to control how much you give away on ONE CHECK. And they must kind of understand this since there is a section when you set up a discount that asks you if you want to allow with other discounts.

My apology. I didn't spend too much time digging into it. I asked support directly and that was the answer I got from them.

Anyway, I now spent some time looking into it and ran several tests. It will work if you create the bulk discount as combo. For the items, choose the only one sandwich you want the discount to be applied for the combo. If you are doing a mix and match, you need to list the sandwiches individually in separate combos.

Then you scroll down, check the "bulk discount" box. Min =1, Max = 5

For the discount value, instead of $ off you will enter the price after the discount. For example, the sandwich is $10 each - $2 discount = $8.

If I understand your requirement correctly, the result should be what you are looking for. If not, feel free to share more information. I will be happy to help. And I do agree with you. Toast's discount really needs some implementation. As of right now, it is very limited for various marketing purposes.

Thank you very much for the information. Since the promotion is tomorrow, I am not going to change anything because I have trained all the staff on the way I was told to by Toast.

Going forward this will be helpful.

I should have selected all the options that they give to set up a discount then I probably could have figured it out. In my brain "COMBO" means several different items purchased together to make a special price.

I guess I have to learn the Toast lingo! Also I think that the process and wording could be much improved. We all know in training, communication is key!

Thanks again for your help. It is much appreciated.

Thank you
