Am I able to put a little pepper symbol to designate that such an item is spicy?

Sure, you can add emojis to your menu item names or descriptions, they only show on POS, Online Ordering or KDS (if using in kitchen name) They do not print so I don't use them anywhere but descriptions, they will be replaced with question marks on receipts which doesn't look great.
If you do a lot of your menu work on a computer you can open the emoji keyboard on windows by holding the windows key + . , or on mac cmd+ctrl+spacebar
Another option is tags, spicy, gluten free, vegan, and vegetarian will show on online ordering site but only if you have the pro version. (used to work on any level😡)
