Sunday
Good Morning,
I have a dilemma regarding the modifications and stock quantity of pastries. If I have a stock of 50 croissants and we have a modifier for breakfast sandwiches that allow for croissants to be used to substitute a bun, we have to manually adjust the stock quantity on the POS. I want to avoid having used the last croissant from being 86'd around the same time someone orders a croissant a-la-carte from online ordering or kiosk orders. Is it possible for modifiers on a production item to subtract from the stock of a shared POS item without us having to manually subtract it from the POS? Say with the same 50 croissants, if a customer orders a breakfast sandwich subbing the muffin with a croissant, it would turn the stock count to 49 croissants.

Create the croissant modifier for the breakfast sandwich from the croissant menu item, you will just have to override the price to whatever the charge is for croissant mod (if any) https://central.toasttab.com/s/article/Creating-Modifiers-from-Items more info on modifier item reference https://doc.toasttab.com/doc/platformguide/adminPricingModifierOptions.html
