The back end:
Doing inventory or gathering a query on menu-items (inventory items).
At the end of the night, end of the week, end of the month. I would like to do a menu-item, bottled wine, query. "Let's see what bottles sold."
Currently, what looks like a good idea, "Product Mix Report NEW Beta" version. It just does not work. I'm trying to query the items. The old Product Mix looks like a query on Staff? I don't get it.
So here it is. In order to "filter", what we call "Query a DB" in DB Administration, menu items sold. Given filter/query-fields, such as: Sales Category, or "TAGS". Currently you can only have one field/sales category, but you might want a sub-category too. I want to look at wine, but more specifically bottled wine. So I added Glass Wine, and Bottled Wine; for example.
I tried to "filter" via my new Sales Categories. But it's not there!
Similarly I tried to "filter" by TAGS. But it's not there! It was there for a minute, then disappeared. WEIRD! TAGS looks like a good way to "query by nickname-field" like a subcategory. So, in theory, Sales Category + TAG, could be a category + subcategory. But! It just isn't there. I add Sales Categories and TAGS, but they don't get searched in the "filter". Which is very bizarre, because where did Product Mix Report get my Sales Categories in the first place? It's as if the new "REPORT" (Product Mix Report NEW Beta) pulled once during push-update or install, and doesn't have a fresh "pull" on "refresh data". I couldn't tell you, because I didn't write the software.

The search will look in menu item names and menu group names, not sure why you are not getting results, also newly created sales categories do not apply to previous sales, only new sales going forward, tags will but it seems to take some time in my experience.

Yeah, that's why I posted it.

Yeah, I pondered that after a while. I did realized that after my brain cooled off. Since "Product Mix NEW Beta" is new I'm still excited about what I FINALLY do with report. If it works as intended. I will have to see. TAGS though, what a shame.

TAGS is a great idea. I didn't work. Then WOW I see my tag! Then I created some new tags. For a whole day... nothing worked, no more tags. They just went to Mars I think.

Thanks for reaching out here; I will share this feedback with my team!

Thank you! Reports as it is, seems very rigid and "forced". A report with query on fields would be the best. Then a DB person can jump right in and create a customized report. Say, "This day" or "this custom date span"; Menu - items - Wine + Wine Bottle (Category Sales Custom); name, date, price: download. That would be grand! TAGS are great too for secondary or on-the-fly query-categories. Then what I, personally, would do is use that download Excel or CVS file and query "it" into my inventory DB as "wine sold", with my own magic, and create a report on my WINE to be ordered. That'd the idea anyway.
