6-16-23 - I called Toast 24/7 support in an attempt to find out why there are two credit card batches every day at our restaurant. The support agent suggested that it was because the amount was too large and it had to go into two batches so the bank would reject it. I told him I did not think that was it. Then he said it was because one batch was done manually and one automatically. I pointed out both batches were submitted at the same time and were not done automatically, as that would have been at 4:00 a.m. in the morning. He said he would make a note and see if they could get the two batches combined into one. I told him that was not my goal. I simply want to know why there are two credit card batches every day. It is not due to lunch and dinner shift changes, as the numbers are way too far apart for that. The single clue is that the First TX Date of the batches is different, but again, I have no idea why that is.
Does anyone have any ideas?

I emailed Keith Dean and asked him if he had access to anyone who actually has a clue about credit card batches. He did not know and he is checking without someone who might know.

How are you capturing payment? Do you capture at shift changes by chance? Or do you sometimes let it autocapture at 4am, and possibly before 9:30pm at close on the following day? If it is not consistent, say you let it autocaptue at 4am on the 16th, and then on the 17th you manually captured before 9:30, it would appear like there was two batches for the same day, but it is really two different batches captured during the same settlement period.
