Hello!
I've spent the last month and a couple google ads meetings with their GTM tracking team trying to figure out how to track purchase conversions from my google ads and Ive had little success.I'm using Online Ordering Pro, I have both a google tag manager tag GTM, and a google analytics tag. I am NOT using the google ads through toast advertising and I cannot express how uninterested I am in going 15% of my adspend in perpetuity to capture this information.
with the help of the google tracking team I've setup javascript trackers through GTM.
I've also tried to separately track them with my google analytics tag.
neither of these tags have been able to capture a purchase event, and my GTM tag is unable to capture the 'subtotal' from the /confim page.
has anybody been able to set this up properly to get an accurate return on ad spend?
I've been running in circles talking to support and the google team and neither of them have been able to help me, I feel like this should be basic, but for some reason I seem to be the first person in the history of the earth to try to get purchase conversions tracked properly.
toast just tells me to put the conversion trackers in there, which they are already there, and google just gets me to setup a useless 30 minute meeting with their tag team that just says "sorry it isn't working lets setup another meeting to keep trying"
Please help me Obi-Wan
thanks,
Arash

I'm in the same boat. Any updates on this?

I'm also trying to do the same thing. I'd like to run Google Ads and get conversion tracking from Toast online ordering. I do see that they recently added the ability to embed Google Tag Manager containers within online ordering, so I'm planning to experiment with that - but not sure if it will lead to the ability to have conversion tracking.

So this is where I left off with Google, after my last meeting they found some problems with the toast online ordering, I sent this information to Toast Support and I'm waiting to hear back.
Google: "Hi Team,
Thank you for your time on the recent troubleshooting session.
Following our review and testing, we identified a few issues that are currently preventing your Google Ads conversion tracking from working correctly. Please share the below details with your web development team (Toast support) for further investigation and resolution.
1. Content Security Policy (CSP) Blocking Google Tags
We observed that Google Tag Manager and related Google tags are being blocked due to Content Security Policy restrictions.
Additionally, the following errors were observed in the browser console:
Action required:
Please review and update the CSP configuration to allow Google Tag Manager resources. You can refer to the following guide for implementation:
https://developers.google.com/tag-platform/security/guides/csp
2. Consent Mode / User Consent Set to Denied
We observed that the website does not display a consent banner, and user consent is currently set to “denied” by default. This prevents tracking from firing, including conversions.
Action required:
3. Conversion Not Firing on Initial Page Load
During testing, the conversion event did not trigger when the order confirmation page initially loaded. It only fired after a manual page refresh.
Action required:
4. General GTM Functionality Impacted
Although tags and variables have been implemented, external restrictions (CSP and consent settings) are preventing them from functioning as expected.
Once these items are reviewed and addressed, we can proceed with further validation."
