Hello!
We are seeking for the most efficient way to clearly separate catering sales in Toast. While we don't use Toast Catering, we offer catering through ezCater. Our managers receive the orders and manually input them into the POS. To track these sales, we’ve created a 'Catering' dining option in the system. We're looking for a solution to ensure these catering orders are easily identifiable and accurately separated from other sales.

I think you're right on the money with a separate dining option, and filtering the sales summary report by that dining option. For these orders that come in thru ezCater, do you also have a alternate payment method, specific to ezCater, set up in toast to close out the sales?
In addition to dining option, we use a separate menu with a separate sales category assigned to it, all specific to catering. We also use a default "catering cashier" employee code to log in when entering in catering orders (mostly because we apply a different tip pooling strategy to these orders).

Hey @nbunda, that sounds great! We were also considering creating a dedicated "Catering Sales" category and linking it to the appropriate GL account. Since we have a catering menu, my plan is to assign this category specifically to it. We have an ezCater payment option in Toast that managers use to close out those orders.
Some locations host special catering events outside of Ezcater, and for those, we just take payment directly from the guests. The main reason we continue using Ezcater is for its delivery service, as we do not have our own delivery drivers.
Thanks for the suggestion! 🙂
