Hey Toast Community! 🍞
There have been several discussions regarding credit card charging across different threads. To simplify things, I propose creating a post where all credit card charging-related information can be consolidated. This will make it easier for us to provide the correct team with feedback when necessary.
What is Surcharging?
Credit Card Surcharging beta product offered by Toast allows you to automatically surcharge in eligible U.S. states to help offset the cost of your credit card processing fees.
If you are interested in this product and you do not have access, you can sign up for the waitlist here. It is worth noting not all customers will be eligible.
"Please note, eligibility for the Credit Card Surcharging product may depend on your location, whether you have a direct processing relationship with a card brand, your volume, or other factors. Ineligible customers may not be notified when the product becomes available."

The waitlist sign-up is available, but this was the only timeline I was given around this feature, being how the waitlist is live ahead of schedule, that seems promising, but unfortunately, no other timelines have been shared.

Is there an additional fee from toast to switch to CC surcharge or is it already included Thanks

Hi,
So there isn't a fee to switch but there is info for you to know before proceeding. I am frustrated with Toast for not informing us about this and a little annoyed that they are doing it. When you agree to activate the CC surcharge feature, you have to agree to new terms for what Toast charges you to process each CC charge. Toast increases the % they charge you for each CC and you have to keep those terms even if you stop using the surcharge feature. So make sure you want this. In the end, I decided to do it and while I am not recouping as much money as I thought I would since Toast is taking more of it, I am making a little bit back. If I wasn't in NY state where the laws for surcharging are so strict, I probably would just have created my own surcharge button and had my employees apply it to the transaction. That way I would have made more money. Just read all of the fine print first and make sure you want to use this feature rather than control it yourself.
