I use Toast Payroll: Ask Me Anything!

Hello Toast Community,

My name is Matt and I’m the owner of Grillbird located in Seattle, WA! I switched to Toast Payroll over 2 years ago and it’s been a really easy experience for us. I (and my CPA) was hesitant at first to make the switch, but we've never had any issues and it's made so many aspects of payroll from onboarding to making adjustments so much easier. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns if you are thinking about making the switch.

I asked Toast IQ to see if I could find an answer. I attached a screenshot of the instructions it gave. I tried the instructions myself. Tip- (it didn't say this instructions) Use shift or ctrl to select multiple payrolls at a time.  You can probably play with which boxes you want checked for the report- I think you'll just want to check earnings.

The report that exports into excel isn't pretty and to be able to see just clear cut information you kind of have to cut some columns out. But essentially this will get you the information you are looking for I believe.

What do your true payroll costs run?  I currently use Homebase and it's very affordable at $39 + Per employee.  I don't have options of leaving notes on timecards or my schedule, without paying another $60.  Do you have these options with TP?

Toast bills on a per active employee basis, not a flat fee.  So they take a calculation of how many employees you have active on payroll and bill monthly.
I can add payroll to-do's at any point and assign them to an upcoming pay period and to employees.  It's very customizable so I'm sure it can accommodate simple notes.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for posting.  I looked quickly through the glossy and am windering, do checks print from Toast Payroll of do emplotees get their pay on a "card"?

Pay card is one option (we do not use it)
Direct Deposit is our preferred.
or you can print checks... print them yourself on check stock or have Toast print them and ship them to you ($20 fee)

Thanks Grillbird,

How do we grant access to our CPA to both platforms: ToastTab and Payroll

Or what is the recomendation for them to keep up with the reporting?
