Insert Google Tag Manager

IGK
Soup I

Hi All 🙂

I’m trying to insert my Google Tag Manager but only see the google analytics field.

Anyone know where I can insert my GTM code?

Were doing Online order Thank You page tracking, Table Reservations/Korean BBQ table reservation tracking, etc.

Maybe there's a better way to do this, please let me know. Thank you 🙂

Hi,

Toast somewhat recently added a spot under the advanced settings to integrate Google Tag Manager (August '24 ?). Just drop your Tag info in. Don't recall this being announced. This is specific to Online Ordering though from what we see. The tag is not populated on e-gift cards, reservations. If you would like to get e-comm feedback, GTM needs to be setup to receive the ecomm info from the Toast online ordering site. Need to setup cross-domain tracking also if you have a typically website.

What would be helpful from a Toast perspective would be to create a GTM template that could be imported with all the proper Tag settings.

From our side (our clients), Toast Online Ordering conversion tracking through GTM is possible. We have it working and can see completed online orders, transaction IDs, and revenue/order value.

Are you willing to share what you're doing on the Google Tag Manager side? I'm able to get conversion count (i.e. a conversion happened) but not order $ value.

That setup would typically need to be handled by a marketing agency, web developer, qualified GTM/GA4 consultant, or (maybe) Toast support.

Toast may provide the field to add GTM, but the actual tracking setup still requires someone who understands restaurant websites, Toast Online Ordering, GTM, GA4, Google Ads, Meta Ads, ecommerce events, and cross-domain tracking.

Online ordering conversion tracking can be done, but the setup needs to be tested carefully so completed orders, transaction IDs, and revenue/order value are tracked correctly.

If you are struggling with it, we would recommend reaching out to a marketing professional or qualified GTM/GA4 consultant who works with restaurant websites (and even Toast) and paid media tracking.

That is also why clearer Toast documentation or an official GTM template would be helpful. It would give restaurants and their marketing teams a cleaner path instead of everyone having to figure it out independently.
