Toast is now paying taxes on our behalf for what is stated as "Orders from the Toast Take Out App or Toast Local"
I'm curious if anyone knows, where is Toast calculating these numbers? Does Online Ordering (from Toast Tab via our store website) include in that? Yesterday Toast only collected $7.50 in taxes for take out orders (not 3rd party) that totaled over $1300 - while the net sales for Toast MPF showing only $125 - so we are unsure of where these numbers are coming from and if we need to set up our revenue centers in a different manner.
Anyone else have insight on how they are calculating the differences and totals for their taxes and keeping it all organized? (side note: not looking for any tax advice, just understanding the Toast calculations so we can have better practices!)
Thank you in advance!

Hey @ctaylorAIHG, Thanks for reaching out with this question! Could you send me a DM or post here, of the numbers you would like to understand better?

In Virginia, example of how crazy MPF is for businesses, Uber is and MPF but Door Dash is not. Then they somehow Toast is designated MPF. Uber collects local meals tax of 6.5% and State Sales and Use Tax of 5.3% (11.8% total) . They pay the 5.3% to State directly. We are responsible for the 6.3%. For some reason Toast collects and pays all the taxes and remits directly supposedly all the taxes. So I have Doordash who remits, none, Uber who remits only state tax, and Toast who remits all of the tax. We are integrated so Toast reports all of this.
My question is how does Toast calculate the sales porting the cover under MPF and how. Is there double reporting of sales numbers. Trying to back engineer the Toast numbers has proven impossible and no help from CSR.
