Archival access and analysis using Python/R etc

Hi all, by chance has anyone extracted archival Raw data to do Data Analysis with external tools such as Python/R etc.

Im looking to our data on an individual cheque level and look at menu item performance for Market basket Analysis and menu engineering purposes.

Id be grateful for any thoughts or advice

I think data exports is what you want, https://central.toasttab.com/s/article/Automated-Nightly-Data-Export-1492723819691 Personally I have never used them, so all I know about them is that they exist. But I think that is were you would begin with something like data analysis.

Hey @MikeOD, Thanks for reaching out! Could you please clarify what kind of data you need? Our Toast support team can assist you with large data pulls, but I want to make sure I understand what you're looking for first.

Hi Rob, Many thanks for responding. I am looking to extract data by Cheque reference. Ideally Id like to do some data analysis at the cheque level including the server id, timestamp and then all the items purchased. I see theres is the data export function but its not ot the extent we need. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I love platform its got lots if info and potential insight sbut we want to dig deeper

Unfortunately, not right now. You would have to build a web scraper function out in Excel or google sheets to mass pull this info, or use some other means. There is no mass export option for the check info at this time.

Thanks Rob, Thats absolutely fine, Im happy to code up a bot in Python with Selenium - Excel or Google sheets does not do well with Dynamic JavaScript platforms. Does Toast have any blockers if I do that? Also Where on the platform can I search at the cheque level? Many thanks appreciate your resopnses
