Half Pizza

Hello all,

I am here hoping someone can actually help me. I followed a toast training video (pre mods) teaching me how to set up half pizzas. However, it didn't work. Then I spent 40mins on the phone with toast trying to fix whatever the issue is. The end result was nothing. Seems to be my luck with this system. I used their video and yet customer care tells me it's not possible.

Does anyone have the half pizzas set up? For whatever reason on my system, I hit 1st half, first choose topping, next topping and it get all scrambled on the ticket. For example, I need it to show up as

1st half
bacon
pepperoni
2nd half
olive 
mushroom

What I get on my screen is

1st half pepperoni
olive
bacon
2nd half mushroom

It shows up in order of how it is on my screen and not in the order I select them.

Also, is there such a thing as a personal Toast professional or direct rep?

We tried their recommended solution for 1/2 and 1/2 pizzas and decided it was easier just to use the special request button.  Some customers know about our system and some don't but we don't get complaints on how we run it.  If you want 1/2 and 1/2 on two specialty pizzas, we key in the more expensive pizza and put a note for the other 1/2 to be the other item.  If someone wants 1/2 specialty and 1/2 pepperoni, we key in the specialty pizza and drop a note to put pepperoni only on 1/2.  Once we got a system worked out we haven't had problems.   If they want pepperoni with black olives on 1/2, we ring up a pepp pizza, and a modifier of black olives and put a note to put them on 1/2 only.

we have a Side A and Side B modifier group. Works quite well for us.

We have these options for half and half:

Whole:

1st half

2nd half

That way we can charge half price on half toppings and differentiate between the toppings on the whole pizza.  Kind of cleans up the kitchen ticket and makes it easier to read.  Example half pepperoni and black olive and half pepperoni and sausage.  ticket would look like>

Medium BYO thin

whole: Pepperoni

1st half: Black olive

2nt half: Sausage

Yes, we went through the same.  You have to build modifier for Whole Topping, Half 1 Topping and Half 2 Topping.  Same Topping list of items, just obviously 1/2 the price for the Half 1 and Half 2.   

Ridiculous that a system such as Toast has no easier solution, but as Toast Support often tells me....the software was built for casual dining restaurants and not Pizzerias.  That makes you feel really great about chossing Toast!

There is a setting to change to have it print in the order you select them. It's under Front of the House>UI Options>Modifier Sorting. It will display on the kitchen screens and tickets just how you enter it.
