Kitchen Display System - Modifier Sort Order

Rolling out this fall, you can arrange item modifiers to match your kitchen's unique workflow, not just the order in which they were entered. By customizing the sort order, critical details—such as sauces and protein modifications—appear where they matter most to you, helping to drive faster preparation, fewer mistakes, and a more efficient kitchen.

Here are the details on how it works:

  • Customization: Modifiers will now respect any Sort Order you configure.
  • Default Behavior: If no Sort Order is set, modifiers will automatically follow Modifier Group Priority, then their input order.
  • Compatibility: This feature applies to both the new KDS (Grid View) and the Legacy Dynamic KDS.

Explore this new KDS feature in Toast Web. Not yet using a Kitchen Display Screen? Learn more on Toast Shop.

Note: This will be rolled out to users from now through November.

Test Kitchen - Toast Web Translation: Spanish, Chinese, French

Much of the Toast Web experience will be translated — from navigation to settings to a few reports — and we are working on translating additional portions of Toast Web.

The translation will not impact the POS or guest-facing experience; it will only translate Toast Web for your account.

Once enabled, to toggle your Toast Web language, follow these steps:

  • Log in and select the avatar icon that appears next to your name in the upper-right corner of the page, and then select My account.
  • Scroll to the Preferences section and under Display Language you can select your preferred language.
  • To toggle it back to English, come back to this section and select English.

Test Kitchen - Sales Contests

Toast Contests makes it simple for restaurant managers to set up, track, and share staff contests that drive sales and keep employees engaged. With Contests, managers can:

  • Configure goals for menu items, menu item categories, upsells, or key metrics
  • Launch contests in minutes directly in Toastweb
  • Track progress with live leaderboards
  • Share standings easily via print or email

This reduces the manual work of spreadsheets and daily updates, freeing managers to run more contests more often. The result is better performance on key metrics like sales, average check, and guest reviews—plus a more motivated and energized staff.

Looking ahead, we’re exploring enhancements such as:

  • AI powered contest recommendations and tracking
  • Employee-facing leaderboards in the MyToast app and POS
  • Shout outs and recognition messages to staff
  • Additional metrics and contests types, like back of house metrics and guest reviews

We’d love to hear what you’d be interested in and would be willing to test out!

Test Kitchen - Toast Webhook Access

Toast’s new Webhook Access allows customers to receive real-time updates on key events, such as order status changes, menu updates, stock availability, restaurant availability,  directly from their Toast account. Unlike traditional API integrations that require frequent polling and risk hitting API  rate limits, webhooks deliver data automatically as events occur. This eliminates the need for high-frequency API calls, reducing load on customer systems and improving reliability. By keeping systems in sync in real time, webhooks streamline integrations, automate workflows, and enhance both operational efficiency and the guest experience.

The new Toast Webhook Access adds a simple, self-serve Webhooks manager in Toast Web (Integrations → Toast API access → Manage webhooks).  Customers can create, view, edit, pause, or delete webhook subscriptions that use their existing Standard API credentials.
