Hi everyone,
I'm trying to configure an automatic 20% Happy Hour discount from 1 PM to 5 PM daily at our restaurant, but Toast keeps displaying the following error:
"This discount is currently unavailable due to its Hours Available configuration. Please check its Availability settings."
I've double-checked the configuration, and everything appears correct:
- Discount type: Fixed % Off (20%)
- Dining option: Dine In
- Applies to: Specific item/groups (Food OR Drinks)
- Days available: Every day
- Hours available: 1:00 PM–5:00 PM (Central Time)
- Permissions: Any User
- Auto apply discount: Enabled
- Promo code: None
- Minimum check amount: None
I've also tried clearing the date restrictions, saving, and publishing the configuration successfully. However, the warning continues to appear, even when checking during the scheduled Happy Hour period.
My goal is to have Toast automatically apply 20% off all eligible dine-in food and drinks between 1 PM and 5 PM without employees manually selecting a discount.
Has anyone encountered this issue? Is there another setting that could be preventing the discount from becoming available, or is this a known Toast bug?
I've attached screenshots of the error and my configuration.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Toast tech support figured it out. A setting under front of house on toast tab needed to be set under quick order:
Prompt for dining option, If no default dining option is set for quick order, the user will be asked to select one for each new order.
Either that option or a default dining option needs to be set for quick order. Apparently none was setup on mine so quick orders were not classified and did not trigger the automatic happy hour discount.

Have you tried to ring up a test order to see if it works? I just tested it. Discount still applies even though I also get the same warning message. I think it is just a message bug that Toast needs to fix.

Also, are you a multi-location user? If you are targeting a group that has stores in multiple time zones, that could trigger some issue.
Also try creating a new discount/promo from scratch. Awhile back I had a problem where everything looked correct but it just would not save. But creating a new one (with the exact same settings) worked.
